Chris Browne, Director
Prior to his current position with Accent Inns, Chris Browne served as General Manager for the Plaza 500 in Vancouver and worked with the Oberoi Hotels Worldwide Group. He is a Member of the Board for the British Columbia & Yukon Hotels Association Zone 1, and is a current and former Board of Director of the Richmond Rotary Club. Chris, who believes positive change is done through effective leadership, is involved in teaching and sharing industry-related experiences with various hospitality colleges and educational establishments in the Lower Mainland and in Metro Vancouver.
Michael Chiu, Director
Michael Chiu is the President of Mar-Con Wire Belt Inc. He has more than 30 years of experience in the manufacturing industries. A resident of Richmond for over 30 years and is actively involved in his community. Past President , founding member and Community director
of The Richmond Sunset Rotary Club, President of Volunteer Richmond In formation Servises Society, Director of The Richmond Community Foundation, Director and founding member of the Richmond Chinese Community Society, Director of the Strathcona employment Assistance Services.
Barbara Duggan, Director
Barbara is the Dean of Applied Design & Communications and the Richmond campus Dean at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Prior to coming to Kwantlen Barbara was a partner in a successful interior design practice in Alberta. As the Dean, Barbara is responsible for degree programs in Fashion, Graphics, Interior Design, and Journalism, as well a diploma program in Public Relations and in Interdisciplinary Design Studies. She is interested in creating opportunities for students at Kwantlen to participate in educational exchange opportunities, and has established exchange agreements with similar programs worldwide. Barbara is currently the Director of Community Services for the Rotary Club of Richmond and previously served two terms as the President.
Peter Leung, Director
Peter Leung is the Marketing Director for Posh Charcoal Collaboration Dining since the inception of the restaurant in 2007. As the Marketing Director of Posh, Peter is responsible primarily for floor operations, marketing coordination and business expansion. Posh, under his direction and restaurant experience has since inception expanded to three restaurants within two years. His previous career was in Financial Services, where his responsibilities focused on product marketing and sales training. His goal was to provide the best possible advice and consultation for middle income Canadians. Peter spent the majority of his life in Vancouver where he grew up and was educated from Capilano College in Marketing and Sales management.
Sheila Luft, Director
Sheila Luft is the General Manager of Richmond Centre South. She recently moved to Richmond after having spent the past fifteen years in the property management and retail industries in Calgary. Sheila is a graduate of the business program from the University of Calgary, specializing in marketing. Her interests include walking, reading, travelling and volunteering. She is looking forward to working with the community to promote Richmond as a visitor destination of choice.
Dan McGowan, Director
As the General Manager of The Fairmont Vancouver Airport, Dan pilots a dedicated team of hospitality professionals. With an extensive hotel background and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Guelph’s Hotel & Food Administration program, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the Tourism Richmond Board of Directors. Dan is involved with Vancouver International Airport (YVR), Terra Nova Sharing Farm, The Vancouver Board of Trade, and many charitable organizations serving the Richmond area. He is also a past board member of the YVR Golf for Kids event.
Roland Monteiro, Director
Roland Monteiro is the General Manager, Hospitality Operations at the River Rock Casino Resort since October 2007. He has over 25 years experience in the hospitality industry and has previously worked at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Grouse Mountain and the Pan Pacific. Since joining the River Rock team in 2004, Roland has held the positions of Regional Director of Food & Beverage for all British Columbia casinos owned by Great Canadian Casino, Director of Sales and Marketing and Assistant General Manager. Roland has a Diploma in Hotel Management and has achieved the designation of a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP). He is also a member of the City of Richmond’s Economic Advisory Committee and the Vancouver Board of Trade.
Paramjit Randhawa, Director
A Richmond resident since 1983, Paramjit ventured into the blueberry farming business and served as President and CEO of Richmond Taxi before undertaking his latest endeavor as the owner of eco-friendly Garden City Cabs of Richmond. Parmjit is also a realtor with Royal Pacific Realty Group and currently serves as General Manager of CPS Enterprises Ltd. An avid philanthropist, he donates both time and resources to a number of non-profit organizations and helps to organize various sports and cultural events in the local Punjabi community.
Deb Robson, Director
A long-time Richmond resident and realtor with RE/MAX Westcoast, Deb is actively involved in the community, most notably in her volunteer role as Promotions Manager for the Britannia Heritage Shipyard Society. Deb was on the original Steveston organizing committee for Tall Ships 2002, and involved in Vancouver’s Tall Ships 2005 as a ships liaison officer. Proud of Richmond’s 2010 Winter Games success, Deb looks forward to building on the momentum in her new role with Tourism Richmond.
Gary Rudin, Director
Gary Rudin is the Assistant General Manager for the Four Points by Sheraton Vancouver Airport. He was born and raised in the Lower Mainland and has been in the hotel industry nearly 20 years. Gary’s first industry job was as a shuttle driver at the Executive Express hotel here in Richmond. Presently, and for the past six years, he has served as Director of Operations at the Four Points Sheraton. His extensive involvement in various capacities with Tourism Richmond over the last five years includes positions as, Treasurer, Vice President, President, Past President, Secretary, and chair of the Asia Pacific Trade and Showcase Centre Committee.
Albert Tseng, Director
Originally from Taipei, Albert Tseng has been in the travel industry in Canada for over 10 years focusing on inbound travel from China and since 2001, has been the owner of Natural Travel Services (NTS). Previously, Albert worked at Utopia Travel where he became a partner and then owner in less than two years. A Member of Canadian Inbound Tourism Association Asia Pacific (CITAP) since 1998, Albert has served on the Board of Directors and as Vice President before being elected President in 2007. A graduate of Tam Kung University he holds a degree in Computer Science.
Steve Veinot, Director
Currently, Steve Veinot is the General Manager at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport since December 2007, he has been in the Hotel industry for 23 years, including the Hilton Vancouver Airport in Richmond prior to joining the Best Western. Steve spent the majority of his life in Ottawa, Ontario where he graduated from the University of Ottawa, moving directly into the hospitality field with the Holiday Inn, Radisson and Marriott brands.
Kathryn Warren, Director
Kathryn Warren is the General Manager of the Radisson Vancouver Hotel. She has been in the tourism industry, both in Toronto and Vancouver for 20 years, and is an active contributor to the Richmond business community. Past President of Tourism Richmond (2003/2004), Kathryn also held the post of Chair of the Tourism Richmond Marketing Committee from 2001 to 2003, currently serves on their Board of Directors and is a member of their Executive Committee. Kathryn is past Chair of the Richmond Hotel Association. She currently serves on the Richmond Chamber of Commerce 2010 Olympic Steering Committee.
